Why You Should Hire A Product Photographer

Did you know that the quality of your photos can affect your sales? Studies have shown that around 93% of people consider image quality to be a key factor in their purchasing decisions. That’s huge!

When I first started my business and offering social media management I was working with local businesses in my home town, taking in any work that I could get my hands on. One of the hardest parts with working with these very small town businesses was the content they were providing and wanting to post on their social media pages. It was so poor quality, inconsistent and unprofessional, which ultimately held them back them from getting sales and growing their online presence. It also didn’t feel good (as their SMM) that it felt like it was a reflection of the work I was providing for them, something that looked poorly to me and didn’t fit my design & creative taste. It was then I learned the importance and the impact of hiring a product photographer for your business and how much it can help your website & digital marketing.

**this isn’t to say taking your own photos is bad - in fact I envy people who have the eye and skill to take their own photos to use for their website and social media and make it look amazing. I’m not one of those people unfortunately and neither are some of my clients I work with - hence hiring out is very beneficial :)

As my business grew I began to work with clients who share the same values as my business and wanted beautiful, consistent content and I can tell you, it makes quite the difference!

I’m always honest with new clients who haven’t hired a product photographer before and share the reasons why it would benefit their products and help their business. Now I’m sharing these reasons to help you decide if it’s best for your business!

  1. Professional Quality

Professional quality photographs will improve the public perception of your products greatly. Product photographers know all the tricks of the trade (lighting, placement, etc.) to make sure that your photos look the best that they possibly can.

  2. Consistency

Working with the same photographer, even with the same company, will provide your brand with a visual consistency that will look clean and professional. Hiring a professional product photographer will work with you to create a consistent look for all your photos that will communicate the best visual message for your brand. Consistency will help to establish you as a brand. If you have a distinct, high-quality look to your photos, people will be more likely to trust you.

  3. Drives More Sales

Quality images will increase interest in your products and confidence in your brand. People will know that if you are willing to put the effort into crafting professional photos, then you probably put that same effort into creating your products or services. Much of marketing is visual and with great visuals comes more opportunity to drive more sales to your business.

  4. Brand Recognition

Using high-quality photos in your marketing will improve your online reputation. Sites that look professional and use consistent professional quality photos will have customers coming back and engaging more with your content. It will help build trust with your customers!

  5. Less stress

Less stress on planning, taking photos, editing, etc. leaving more time for you to focus on your business. If you don’t already know a photographer that you can hire, there are plenty of sites online that list photographers in your area.
